HR METRICS CERTIFICATION COURSE DESCRIPTION
AND PURPOSE
The course introduces students to the fundamental logic, metrics, analysis and interpretation that are central
to HR analytics. While the emphasis is on applied methodology rather than statistical issues, rigorous
methodology as it pertains to HR metrics will be covered.
Strategic management and the balanced score
card (BSC) methodologies, as well as survey development, workforce forecasting, and calculating absenteeism
and turnover costs will be discussed: coupled with a multitude of commonly utilized HR business metrics. By the conclusion of the certification course, students will be able to integrate, analyze and interpret
data to make better information decisions about managing human resources.

After completing this course students will be able to:
1. Relate the importance of using data based reasoning to support HR decisions.
2. Describe the strategic role of HRM
3. Formulate decisions about human resource initiatives using data based reasoning and analysis.
4. Identify the quantitative analyses suitable for the analysis of employee data.
5. Interpret statistical output involving HR data.
6. Calculate absenteeism costs, turnover costs, and return-on-investments.
7. Develop recommendations for workforce planning (e.g staffing needs) based on results of a Markov Analysis
8. Develop effective surveys for use in an organisational setting.
9. Translate research finding into practical conclusions and recommendations
1. Required pre-reading of selected text book chapters and case studies.
2. Post course online quiz (60 question, pass rate of 80%) in order to successfully achieve certification.
The Certification process has three cycles:
1. Pre-event pre-qualification process
- GAFM Delegate bio which evaluates the candidates entry level and eligibility, more so training needs.
2. Pre-event study material and HRMA body of knowledge.
- Which forms part of the exam set.
3. Pre-event Assignment
- This assignment is required before the start of the boot camp class and contributes to 40% of the overall program.
